Test Your Know-How!
Well, we don't have a new mystery engine up on the block for you, but we do have answers for our last few mindbenders for all of you greasemonkeys out there. Just give us a few, and we'll see what else we can set up for you to tangle your gears on! There are plenty of them kicking around the shop, so it won't be long (decisions, decisions...)

We asked what you thought this engine was... (click on the image above to see the full-size original photo). In the description we hinted that it was one of the first of its kind. Some of you were pretty close, but as near as Jim can recollect, no one got it exactly on the nose.
For those of you dying from suspense, here's the answer:
It's a 1929 Chevrolet 6-cylinder. What makes it so special is that it was the first year for a 6-cylinder overhead valve Chevy to be made. How's that for obscure information? ;)

We asked what you thought was wrong with the engine that these plugs came from (click on the image above to see the full-size original photo). A number of you got this one right. Plug #2 on the Left side had broken oil ring. Good job, guys!

A bunch of folks e-mailed us with guesses on this engine, and some of you got it right, or at least partially correct! :) For everyone who wondered, this is a 1963 Chrysler 300J, 413 C.I., V8, with 390 H.P. Click on the image above to see the full-size original photo.

Here's a good one -- this mystery engine was a 1918 Chevrolet V8 overhead valve engine from a Model D car. How many of you figured that out?
