Welcome to The Engine Room!

NEWS: Jim has been in the shop regularly for some time now. E-mail and telephone inquiries are welcomed and encouraged. Stay tuned as we update the site and get things rolling again! Included in the plans are the addition of photos to the parts inventory and other nifty technology-assisted doodads.  Meanwhile, we’ve updated the parts list.

You have found our on-line garage, where we have been building up our cyber-showroom since November 1997. We have averaged about 250+ hits a month since our inception. The Engine Room itself has been in business much longer than that, originally operating out of a shared warehouse workshop space in South Portland. In recent years, the shop moved to a more streamlined set-up. Literally tons of material were moved out to new homes. The new location (still in South Portland) served our needs better than the old. This newer workshop served as a base camp as Jim renovated and outfitted a stand-alone garage adjacent to the current building. Part of the ongoing process will involves Jim occasionally clearing out some old but new-in-box parts and other miscellaneous goodies on eBay, so please feel free to look us up there under the user name theengineguy to see if anything is cooking!

...Hope you enjoy everything that's here on our site!

The Engine Room specializes in:

In addition, the Engine Room has access to machine shop services. Our early Ford V8 flatheads expertise and Model A know-how is thorough, as is our parts inventory. We are also working more and more on antique inboard marine engines.

Test Your Expertise! -- here are some photos of interesting engines currently in our shop. You can try your know-how at figuring out what they are!
On-going Projects -- We have posted a series of photos illustrating the progress of an assortment of The Engine Room's restorations, step by step.
